REGARDS ÉGYPTIENS
Mir’a and Zamalek Art Gallery are delighted to present Regards Égyptiens; a selection of works by prominent and emerging Egyptian artists.
The show places in conversation how the Modern and Contemporary Egyptian artists respond to and reflect on history, cultural tradition, politics and issues of identity through art. From such events arose a variety of approaches, techniques and concepts that induced today’s art.
Throughout history, Egypt witnessed the birth and flourishing of literature, art and music. Yet, it also saw conflicts, mass migrations, social upheavals and changes in its cultural heritage. Running through the presented artworks, one notices the common influences on these artists’ interactions with their own environment and how it is reflected in their works. The stories behind them display the impact of the past, shed light on the present, and start a discourse about the future.
Between past and present, fascinating stories emerged through these works, which paved the way for innovative creations that shaped the Egyptian art scene.
We invite you to explore the artists’ stories and discover their extraordinary themes through consequential artistic dialogues.
The show Regards Égyptiens will guide you into their world and experience their unique living memory.
